How Much Will a Custom Closet Cost Me, and How Long Will It Take?

When it comes to planning and purchasing your custom closet system, you probably have a lot of questions. Often two of the first questions that clients ask us are, “How much will this cost?” and “How long does it take to have a custom closet installed?” Every organization system is a bit different, because we build our systems based on the needs of our individual clients, so there is no set answer to these questions. With that being said, there are a few ballpark estimates that we can give you:

Q: Pricing?

Walk-in closets can start at about $1,000, but generally cost between $1,500 and $2,000. The specifics depend on how large the closet is, what accessories you would like, and sometimes on finish and hardware options. A reach-in closet, which could include a kid’s closet, a coat closet or a linen closet, could start as low as $150, but will usually run between $800 and $1,000.

A custom pantry, which includes the bins and baskets necessary to help you organize your kitchen items, would start at about $500. If you are looking for a custom home office, plan on spending at least $1,000, and if you want to transform a room in your home into a guestroom, a Murphy bed (also called a wall bed) costs about $5000.

Q: Timing?

When you call us for your free consultation, we will schedule your appointment as soon as possible and at your convenience. This appointment will take an hour or two, during which time we’ll answer your questions, show you some samples and measure your space. In most cases, we will design a system for you on our computers, and we can show you a 3D rendition of your finished product at that time.

Your installation appointment will usually take place three to four weeks later. Depending on the size of your system, installation should take half a day to a full day. In some cases, such as if we are doing extensive work, it will take more than a day. Also, if we are repairing holes left by a previous organization system, it might be a two-day process.
